DESCRIPTION

Coordinates planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties:

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides production support to the machining area and the assembly area.
  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
  • Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Measures machine and parts during production to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs.

QUALIFICATIONS

**MUST HAVES**

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) or equivalent; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DESCRIPTION

The Production Planning Manager will be responsible for defining and implementing the company production strategies. He or she is responsible for using the ERP system for planning of all production schedules, job estimations and customer service. This position will be accountable for 100% on time delivery performance, with the goal of providing premier performance within served markets. It is the job of the Production Planning Manager to ensure smooth operations throughout the production and distribution life of a given product.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for 100% on time delivery with all clients.
  • Create and maintain work procedures in master data files.
  • Scheduling on production orders, create machining schedule with Production Manager
  • Check due dates, shipping dates and communicate with customers if issues with on time delivery
  • Review customer purchase orders to determine if lead time and pricing requested by customer is attainable, and if not negotiate with customer and obtain a new purchase order
  • Plan direct & coordinate planning, scheduling, capacity, inventory, receiving, material handling, information flow activities to achieve the business and continuous improvement goals using GSS ERP systems
  • Develop and manage production planning strategies using Global Shop schedules and ERP tools to maximize the use of the organizations resources and meet established production specifications and schedules.
  • Define and communicate performance targets for Production Managers.
  • Develop manage the Master Production Schedule, personnel/crew, and finished goods inventory plans. Ensure the integration of manufacturing and planning policies, processes and programs, including customer service and operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and integration of manufacturing capabilities, planning policies, processes and programs, including customer service and operational efficiencies.
  • Plan, direct, control, coordinate and evaluate inventory planning and control activities. Manage inventory replenishment processes based on production schedules, current inventory, customer orders and forecasts. Manage purchased, fabricated & finished goods material flow.
  • Ensure order fulfillment processes balance and integrate priorities from a wide variety of areas, including safety, quality assurance, training, and accounting. Create and maintain standard work as necessary.
  • Develop cross-unit linkages/relationships with resources in Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Shipping that encourage collaboration, creativity and maximum performance. Ensure entire supply chain is integrated to meet goals.
  • Serve as business application process owner to ensure best practice tools and processes are implemented and sustained.
  • Coordinate with new operation, and Quality teams to ensure new product introductions meet customer service goals, introduction dates, and pricing objectives.
  • Approve and develop new Product Quote Requests that are consistent with our operating strategies and costing.
  • Provide operational reporting and metrics to aid in data-driven decision making.
  • Establish production times in ERP APS system, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements in order to provide quotes to customers.
  • Evaluate Global Shop Schedules and capacity ,make recommendations and direct efforts to maximize customer serviceability and organizational effectiveness.
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepare production reports in ERP system.
  • Prepare customer and vendor quotes in ERP system.
  • Apply machine shop knowledge to select work stations, process steps and set up and cycle times to run each order / quote.
  • Work directly with any outside services to quote and complete orders and correctly price them.
  • Must be able to assemble all data and accurately cost the Request for Quote (RFP) in a timely manner
  • Ensure all customer support issues are handled efficiently, effectively (answer problem at hand) and professionally (through a great customer experience). Targeting a same day or next day answer.
  • Acts as a single point of contact for customer enquiries and ERP updates.
  • Maintain a 360 degree view of production issues, identifying trends and larger issues for escalation.
  • Assist the ERP Manager to make sure all transaction processes are being completed by the floor within ERP. Must be an expert in this area.
  • Provide positive and effective leadership by example and proactive involvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

**Requirements**

  • A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with CNC Machining: Lathes/Mills.
  • Technical knowledge and experience of production process.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to deal with customers, colleagues and employees.
  • Supervisory experience with extensive knowledge of manufacturing practices and techniques.

  • Good understanding of estimating principles and practices relating to product costing, expense budgeting and inventories.

Procurement Specialist will oversee and handle the purchasing of raw materials, finished goods, tooling, equipment, and services for the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • This position will be working with various departments (Customer Service, Accounting, Production, Facilities, etc.) to plan purchasing activities.
    • Responsible for purchase order entry in the ERP system, placing orders with suppliers, and working with suppliers to ensure on-time receipts.
    • Track orders and confirming costs, anticipated delivery dates and system lead times.
    • Track order acknowledgments, communicating shortages and backlogs and advise of potential interruptions to internal and external customers.
    • Review and approve requisitions for goods and services, solicit bid proposals, and prepare purchase orders.
    • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, and production and distribution capabilities.

  • Negotiate supply agreements for key indirect goods and services to reduce total cost and improve delivery and quality.
  • Participate in the evaluation and measurement of supplier quality, supplier on-time delivery, and total cost reduction for key indirect goods and services.
  • Work in collaboration with internal customers to resolve supplier issues.
  • Communicate with suppliers and Accounts Payable through the PO and payment process to resolve issues when necessary.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with suppliers and keep current on the integrity and financial health of our suppliers.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of key metrics and measurables. Review, analyze and interpret various reports.
